From our new President, Ellen Davidson

Hi every body,
I am excited to be starting a new group in York.  Our chapter in Mountville is growing and we wanted to expand to York County to offer transgender support to a larger metropolitan area and also encourage participation from Maryland.  We need to attract some new members with new ideas.  An election for Board of Directors will be held in the near future.   We are planning on participating in the Lancaster Pride this year and hope to coordinate with Trans Central in the promotion of some events to serve the transgender community.
I plan to have an agenda for all meetings.  The meetings will begin promptly at 8:30 PM and hopefully will be over before 11PM to provide an opportunity for those who would like to go somewhere to socialize.  As Michelle mentioned, we are presently in negotiation with Club XS in York to offer our members special benefits on meeting nights. We have been invited to go to Club XS after our first meeting with free cover by showing a membership card.  Membership cards will be provided at the next meeting.
There are many things we can do to educate the public and benefit the transgender community.  I hope you find an interest in some aspect of our group and I am looking for people who would like to take a leadership role.  I hope to see you at one of the meetings soon.

Ellen Davidson
President
Renaissance of South Eastern Pennsylvania

Mesasage from Michelle Lynn GreyFeather

Hi everyone!

Well summer is almost here, short dresses, short shorts, bikini's and flip flop's and
oh yeah, HOT..  and speaking of HOT, I have some terrific HOT news....

We have had many questions from our Transgender sisters and brothers over the
pass 2 and a half years about having a Transgender Support group in YORK, Pa.. We have been looking very hard for a location in York during that time that we feel would be a Safe Haven to hold meetings for our Transgender sisters and brothers in the York, Pa area. Well, I am very happy and excited to say that we finally located that place and are proud to announce a New ROSE Transgender Support and Educational Chapter starting in York, Pa..

ROSE will open a new Transgender Support chapter in York, Pa this coming May, 2009.
We will hold our first meeting Saturday May18, 2009 at the ........

Mt. Zion Lutheran Church
2164 Mt. Zion Road,
York, Pennsylvania
Click below for
Directions to York's Meeting Location

This location is a very safe place in which we all can meet and be ourselves without ridicule or harassment from anyone who does not understand our needs, desires and our life styles. Our first priority is to provide a safe place to meet so members and visitors will feel at ease and comfortable being their preferred Gender and relaxing and feeling safe wearing their preferred clothing. The Pastor there, Pastor Brian, welcomed us with open arms and supports us. We have a nice fellowship hall to hold our meetings in and the use of the kitchen when we need it. Pastor Brain is a wonderful person and a caring individual, we were very happy to meet him and we discussed our needs with him at length.

Our first meeting in York will be a Meet and Greet program with the introduction of the New ROSE Chapter in York. Click on the York Chapter Meeting and Program flyer to see our first York meeting Program Information. There will be members from the Mountville chapter of ROSE there to meet Visitors and potential future members to welcome them to ROSE and make them feel at home and relaxed. The Board of Directors will be there to help with any questions or problems visitors may have need of assistance with and to make everyone feel at home and like part of the family. We will discuss future meetings, programs and activities of the New ROSE Chapter as well as possible trips and outings.

Our Mountville chapter of ROSE is just a little out of the way in a not to well known little town, but, it is a very nice Town and very quiet. It is sort of hard to plan anything outside of the meetings in Mountville due to its location but the York chapter is located in a well known metropolitan area and we can now provide much more in activities, programs and outings as well as special events. One event being an after meeting outing to the Club XS in York, Pa. to have a little fun and relaxation after a meeting on a Saturday night. I have been in negotiations with Club XS and Club XS will now begin a Transgender night on the Third Saturday of each month for members of ROSE. On Transgender night when members show their membership cards at the door of Club XS members will be given a Free Drink pass worth $5.00, usually the cost to get into Club XS at the door. Once we are in Club XS we will be given two free booths to use for the night as our Transgender corner of the club if the booths are not already rented.. We welcome non members of ROSE to come and join us at the club and we will be happy to share our booths with them on Transgender night at Club XS. A fun event after a serious meeting trying to help those in need and with questions that need answers. Not all our meetings are serious endeavors of help and support, we have some fun meetings to as well as exciting meetings. None of our meetings are ever boring, there are always others like ourselves there to chat and mingle with and provide a night filled with learning and fun just being ourselves. We are in the planning stages of several events and programs for the York chapter which we feel will give the York TG Community and whomever attends our York meetings some fun and enjoyable times.

Some have asked the question does the Crossdresser or Transsexual have to dress at the meetings?

We maintain a non-pressure type atmosphere since we realize how very difficult it is for some new members and visitors to come to a meeting. Some members come dressed, others change in a area provided. Some come in male or female clothes because of other commitments or they just didn’t feel like dressing. There is never pressure on you to dress. It is all part of understanding the nature of our special group of Crossdressers and Transsexuals. We are like a family helping each other and many of those who help have given much of their valuable time to serve and help those of us in need and who have many questions that need answers.

To our first time visitors:

The main goals of ROSE are:

(1) to provide a safe, friendly and understanding safe haven for male or female Crossdressers' and Transsexual's and their spouses and or significant others.

(2) to help each other explore who we are and why we exist as we do and help to solve the questions and problems we all face and explain our needs and desires

(3) provide a nurturing supportive structure in which we can fine-tune the “better half” of our gender gifted selves.

Most of our members have been either crossdressing or Transsexuals all of their lives. We can all remember the very first time we contacted a support group and communicated with another crossdresser or Transsexual. I for one was happily surprised at the amount of help my contact at a Transgender Support group gave me and the lengths she went to to help me begin the exploration of my feminine side. The need we all share gives us a common bond that runs very deep, and it is this bond that gives strength to the sister and brotherhood of our chapter and our chapter life. Many of us have developed life long friends through support groups. If you are one of the many people out there struggling with crossdressing issues or facing Transsexual problems we believe we can help. The positive support of other people that share your outlook on gender can be both very liberating and comforting.

Our monthly meetings are safe, secure and are held in a very private and safe location.    The members and visitors of our group are very friendly towards each other and understand each others needs and desires. The members of the church we found in York are very open and supportive to our needs and problems and welcome us into their Church.

If you have any questions about our New ROSE Chapter, or to get more information about our group, or just to ask some questions you might have about the joy and fun of crossdressing or being your Transsexual self please do not hesitate to contact us. You can contact any of us by going to our contact section of the ROSE Web Site. http://www.renaissancesep.org/Contact.html

Come and join us at ROSE... we would love to see you at one of our monthly meetings! We feel that it's a wonderful lifestyle if you give it a chance, besides, we’d be thrilled to have you join us!

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any special programs you would like to see or any special speakers you would like to hear at one our meetings. Our meetings are set up especially for you, the members and visitors of ROSE and the TG community. All Ideas and request will be reviewed by the board of directors and basically approved when they meet the subject matter of Transgender issues, problems and questions.

At our last meeting at the Mountville Pa, Chapter of ROSE we had 17 in attendance, which produced a wonderful night of discussion of many topics most mainly being of Transgender nature. Several had questions which needed some answers and we also had 1 new visitor who became a member.

In our community we all have to be each others best friends because without each other  sticking together, working together and helping each other we could end up very lonely and afraid of life as we want and need to live it. Our meetings are also meant to bring our Community together as well as provide Support and Education in Transgender issues and needs. If anyone is ever in need of friendship or help we are only a phone call away, best friends are important so let's not loose contact with each other.

Any Transgender meeting is important in the Transgender community no matter which group is holding a meeting for those who are looking for help, support and just a way to meet others who have the same needs and help solving TG issues and problems. Don't hesitate to attend a Transgender meeting close to you, you will find it to be very helpful  in many different ways and you will also enjoy meeting others like yourself. Meetings will help you build confidence in yourself and help you become more of who you really are inside.

Hugs to all,
Michelle Lynn GreyFeather,
Chief Executive Officer

Consider This:
By Linda coover

A few days ago I was looking at one of my favorite web sites. The site is a US Gov site for Arlington National Cemetery.  After looking at the monuments there I realized that there are monuments to soldiers and statespersons from all walks of life. Noting the contributions made to the freedom that the United States stands for. But there is no mention of people who are from the GLBT community.

I myself have served seven years in the US Army. Part of that time was in Viet Nam. As in all my travels over the years I have met people who are from GLBT who were soldiers sailors and airmen during WWII to the present. And all served with the same courage and willingness as contemporaries. And I am willing to bet some have also died in line of duty as others. The only difference in this service is that we who are GLBT have to serve in silence and fear. Fear; not for the enemy, but the persons with whom we have served.

There should be a monument to a badly persecuted minority pointing out this service. Many need to know we have been here doing what needs to be done to assure our freedom since 1775. This monument should be placed in Arlington National Cemetery so others will know the sacrifices we also have made to the idea of freedom with liberty and justice for all.

                                                                      May 1, 2009

Wednesday the United States House of Representatives voted 249 to 175 in favor of the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (H. R. 1913), moving one step closer to the passage of the first federal law to include gender identity and transgender people in a positive way. This bill would add sexual orientation, gender identity, gender, and disability to the categories included in existing federal hate crimes law and would allow local governments who are unable or unwilling to address hate crimes to receive assistance from the federal government.

Find out how your representative voted by checking the roll call vote at http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll223.xml

WHAT YOU CAN DO NEXT

Important next steps you can take
1. If your Representative voted for H.R. 1913, please call or e-mail them today and thank them for their
vote. You can find your member of Congress at www.house.gov and find out how they voted at
  http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll223.xml.

2. Contact your Senators' offices and ask for their support for the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes
Prevention Act, S.909, which was introduced on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 by Senator Edward Kennedy.

WHAT THE BILL SAYS

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act would:

•  Extend existing federal protections to include "gender identity, sexual orientation, gender and disability"
•  Allow the Justice Department to assist in hate crime investigations at the local level when local law
enforcement is unable or unwilling to fully address these crimes
•  Mandate that the FBI begin tracking hate crimes based on actual or perceived gender identity
•  Remove limitations that narrowly define hate crimes to violence committed while a person is accessing
a federally protected activity, such as voting.
The Hate Crimes Prevention Act is supported by nearly 300 civil rights, education, religious, and civic
organizations. The bill is also endorsed by virtually every major law enforcement organization in the
country-including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National District Attorneys
Association, the National Sheriffs Association, the Police Executive Research Forum, and thirty-one
  state Attorneys General.

From Ray

The entire Transgender community has been invited to a special reception being hosted by the Central Pennsylvania GLBT Community Center Coalition and St. Michael's Lutheran Church on Friday, May 8th following the 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch' performance at the Open Stage Theater in Harrisburg.  The Center is purposely trying to reach out to the Transgender community through this event and we are the VIP guests.  They want to know more about our story and how we can all work together better.  You do NOT have to attend the performance to attend the reception!  I hope some of you can plan to attend after our meeting in Mountville on Friday night.

The magic age calculator using chocolate math

This is pretty neat!

1.  Pick the number of times a week you would like to have chocolate
(more than once but less than 10).
2.  Multiply this number by 2.
3.  Add 5
4.  Multiply x 50
5.  If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 if you haven’t add 1758.
6.  Subtract the four digit year you were born

You now have a three-digit number.  The first digit is the original number.
The next two numbers are your real age.

2009 is reported to be the only year this will work.

So ... as of now our schedule for our May meeting will be a movie night. We will have a Large Screen TV , at least a 50 inch viewing screen to view the movie which will be either a Projection or Plazma TV. This way it will feel like your in a movie theater and no one will be straining their eyes to see the movie. So bring your popcorn or enjoy our snacks and of course enjoy the movie. We will announce the title of the movie near the end of April. It will be Transgender Related and will be an interesting movie, guaranteed.......

Green Satin Gown for Sale ... $75.00 ... Pay using PayPal account

I bought this Gown off ebay last month and it is a little to small for me. It is in good condition, no tears or hanging strings. It will fit someone who is Bust 44, Waist 38 and Hips 47 to 48 and maybe just a little larger. It fits me but it is just to tight, I am Bust 48, Waist 41 and Hips 48. It is satin lined with the same color and material as the outside. Has a nice broach in the middle of the Breast area with a drapping piece of Satin material in the middle front as seen in the picture. It also comes with a shoulder piece as seen in the picture. This is a lovely gown and I sure wish it fit me because I love it. I am 5 foot 8 inches and with 3 inch heels on it still goes to the floor. It is a strapless gown but you could add shoulder straps very easily.
If you happen to be interested please e-mail me at .... renaissancesepa@aol.com. .... It is a beautiful gown ... I paid 90 dollars for it.

Dear Panzees,

Mike and I have determined we can no longer keep Panzee running; it takes far too much money and time.  We greatly appreciate all your contributions and support.  Over the last two years, we believe Panzee has made a difference in our corner of the world by helping to unite and give support to the sexual minority community.  It's been a lot of fun, the best part was meeting and working with you, all the individuals & groups within the LGBT community.  Panzee will always remain deep in my heart as an accomplishment in my life of which I am most proud.

Our final issue was April 2009, there will not be a May issue.  Refunds for subscriptions and advertising that have not been fulfilled are on the way back to you.

In the May 2009 Issue, that will not get published, was to be an event review regarding the boycott of Jamaican products.  Attached you'll find photographs of the area bars pouring out their Jamaican Myer's rum.  Also attached is what would have been the cover story which Phil Wheeler spent quite of bit of time researching and writing for you.
