Four Steps to Providing Health Care to Transgendered People
Is there a cure for Transgenderism .... the answer is no .... there is only counseling and therapy tohelp these
people deal with and understand their Transgender life. However, there is a method of curing Transsexualism by
means of Hormones and SRS (Sex Reassignment Surgery).
What means of help can a Psychologist, Counselor / Therapist give Transgender people?
The answer is by providing care on how to deal and handle the issues and problems that occur on their Journey
whether it be Transsexual, or Crossdressing. The Journey of these people can be very depressing, not because
of their desired gender journey but because of the way they are treated, accepted and because of the lost of family
, friends and work due to the mis understanding of Transgenderism .... and their need to be who they are according
to their brain gender. The lost of their life's family etc and the depression it causes can lead to suicide and
unbearable grief. Most of these people have lived or live in a secret world because of the problems and grief caused
if anyone found out about their brain gender not conforming to their physical appearance and mannerism. The
help needed is the support of helping them be who they are and not who others want them to be.
Understanding their life's plight, offering support, helping them understand themselves, helping them with their
depression, giving guidance and direction are a few of the things these people need and seek in the way of
counseling and therapy.
The approach to Crossdressing Counseling / Therapy is somewhat similiar to Transsexual Counseling / Therapy
but Crossdressers do not believe they are a woman born in a mans body or visa versa. There are however
different forms of Crossdressing that are not wired into the brain at the time of gender assignment and hormonal
washes .... ie ... Drag Queen, Drag Kings, performers in female illusion, work related crossdressing etc ....
However, some of these people could have been born with the urge and compulsion to crossdress due to hormone
wash and gender assignment of the brain ... and using these careers as a way to be their brain wired feminine or
masculine selves. Crossdresser's have the same issues and problems of others finding out about their feminine
or masculine side and need counseling and therapy just as Transsexuals do due to the in acceptance and
misunderstanding of Transgenderism. both Transsexuals and Crossdressers will have problems adapting to
themselves because of their not understanding who and why they are. These people stand the chance of
losing family, friends, jobs and life's history when found out and can sometimes lean toward suicide.
